Re-installing X-Plane 11 Carenado Beechcraft Baron B58 for new computer

Went through some very frustrating hours trying to get the Baron B58 to work properly. Instead of the normal view from the cockpit, the view was blocked by two pilots bodies. It turned out that the problem was that a microsoft C++ redistributable for Visual Studio needed to be installed. I installed a 2017 version which didn’t work, probably because the plugin was built with an earlier version. Next I tried installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64). That did the trick. It is also mentioned on the Carenado support page although the link they gave there didn’t work for me.

To be more specific, Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) or already installed. I added the 2010 and 2017 64 bit version only. I attempted to install the 2015 version but got an error that you can not install a product when a newer version is installed. I’ll try uninstalling the 2017 version, then 2015, then 2017.

I just removed the 2017 version then installed the 2015 version successfully. I installed the 2017 version once again but when I checked the programs and features window the 2015 version had been removed! I won’t worry about it any longer!

Another problem I experienced today was that the weather (which I had set to download the real weather) was failing to download. I checked my ip address and it wasn’t the same as on my old computer. After quite a bit of futzing about with my router settings I was able to edit my reserved LAN entry for this computer, replacing the MAC from my old computer to the MAC for the network interface for the new computer. This remedied the problem.

    1. Hi Don! Sorry, I don’t monitor this blog very well. My advice on re-installing the Baron was from quite some time ago. Were you able to install successfully?
