The marathon for which I’ve been training for the last six months will finally take place next Sunday. Last Sunday I did my last long row of 35K. I completed it in record time, an average 500 meter time of 2:21.8. This is really fast for me. The biggest trick was to not have to get up and walk around to save my aching butt! Quickly changing into a clean pair of shorts around the half way point and throwing a folded hand towel on top of my triple seat pad layer near the end helped keep my up time to a bare minimum.
I have substantially increased my pace in all of my workouts recently. Perhaps the unfortunate result is lower back pain on my lower left side which could really mess up my having a great marathon. I’ve had it for over a week and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
Tomorrow, Sunday, I only need to row 15K. I will really try to take it easy. I really need to rest up and recover for the following Sunday
